In March of 2012, “The Hunger Games” made its debut in theaters worldwide. The opening weekend of the movie brought in $152,535,747 (U.S.). It ended up grossing $407,999,255 (Aug. 31, 2013 in the U.S.). This tremendous success in the theaters has led to confirmation of continuing “The Hunger Games” trilogy on the big screen.
As many fans are aware, the second book titled “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is set to hit the theaters on Nov. 22, 2013. The cast information and photos have been slowing leaking into the public eye through press releases, social media and other sources. If this was not exciting enough, it has been confirmed that Lionsgate will continue the trilogy and film a two part movie for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” will make its debut in theaters on Nov. 21, 2014. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2” will hit the big screen on Nov. 20, 2015. Suzanne Collins wrote “The Hunger Games” trilogy. Katniss Everdeen who is a 16-year-old girl is telling the story. Katniss lives in a post-apocalyptic nation of Panem. This is where countries of North America existed. The Capitol controls the politics of the nation.
Each year, they hold an event called the Hunger Games. The Capitol chooses one boy and one girl aged 12-18 in which they call tributes. Each of the 12 districts must have the two tributes play in the games. They are chosen by a lottery. In the game, each tribute (regardless if they are from the same district) battle to the death.
